Mine Engineering Superintendent

Location: Saskatchewan

Salary: 90K - 110K + bonus

Reporting to the Mine Manager, the Mine Engineering Superintendent is responsible for the coordination and performance of the mine engineering department. This includes development and stewardship of long and short term mine plans, underground surveying, monitoring and resolution of ground control issues, mentorship of the mine engineering staff.

Specific Responsibilities will include:
  • Coordinating short and long term mine planning (design & scheduling):
  • Ensure short term (week & monthly) and long term (yearly & 20 yr) mine plans are produced and stewarded to through a reconciliation process;
  • Coordinate with the Mill Manger on the short and long term mill requirements;
  • Coordinate underground miner major overhauls/replacements;
  • Ensure that all ground control issues are monitored, analyzed and documented for safety improvement and future use in the mine planning process;
  • Ensure all mine plans are communicated to and coordinated with the Mine Manager, Mill Manager and Mine Superintendent and their associated staff;
  • Ensure mine plan compliance with all safety and environmental rules and regulations.
  • Promote improvements in all areas to meet or exceed set targets
  • Ensure alignment and cohesion with in the mine engineering team;
  • Participate in the budgeting process and steward to the mine engineering budget (capital & operational);
  • Recognize and implement continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Perform the Mine Superintendent job duties as needed.
Qualifications of the Position Include:
  • A Bachelor degree in Mine Engineering or related degree;
  • Have 8-10 years of mining engineering supervisory experience, preferably underground;
  • Able to handle a large and varied workload;
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, planning, problem solving, and organization skills;
  • Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision;
  • Experience working with MS Office, SAP, CAD, and Mine Planning software such as Vulcan.
